21st Century is proud to be a small school, with a maximum of 70 students per grade (15 per classroom) for each of 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. 5th grade has a maximum of 30 students. Currently our school is full, but occasionally we do get openings during the school year. We suggest the process below to determine if 21st Century is a good match for your student. If it is, please call the school and put your student\u2019s name on our lottery list.<\/p>\n
Admission Criteria<\/strong> 1st preference<\/b>\u00a0– Returning students. Apply for Admission<\/strong> Guidelines<\/strong> If your student\u2019s name is not drawn before or during the school year, your students name will automatically be moved onto the following school year\u2019s lottery.<\/p>\n Lotteries for the following school year are held in March, April, or May, approximately six months before the start of the new school year. Subsequent lotteries are determined by the school administration, based on enrollment needs.<\/p>\n If your student\u2019s name is drawn, we will give you 24-48 hours to let us know if you will be accepting the slot. Once accepted we will require the registration packets to be filled out and returned by a specified date. For 6th graders and new 7th and 8th graders, some testing may take place during the first week of school to determine appropriate placement in courses.<\/p>\n If you have placed your student\u2019s name on our lottery list but haven\u2019t heard anything from the school, you are welcome to call any time to inquire. If you become situated in a school which seems to suit you and 21st Century is no longer of interest, please send a written letter and call the office to withdraw your student\u2019s name from the lottery. \nIn order to fill the 70 slots per grade level, we use the following method:<\/p>\n
\n2nd preference<\/b>\u00a0– Siblings of previous\/current students.
\n3rd preference<\/b>\u00a0– Students whose names are drawn in the \u2018lottery\u2019, in the order they are drawn, until all slots are filled.<\/p>\n
\nCall the school at (505)254-0280. Give your name, your student\u2019s name(s), grade(s), address, and all current contact numbers. Should we draw your child\u2019s name in our lottery, we will provide a registration packet.<\/p>\n
\nAlthough we try to have all slots filled by the first day of school, some slots may not actually be filled until after the school year begins. All name remain on a waiting list for that school year in the order which they were drawn.<\/p>\n
