{"id":2597,"date":"2015-10-12T14:54:23","date_gmt":"2015-10-12T14:54:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/21stcenturypa.com\/wp\/?p=2597"},"modified":"2015-10-12T14:54:23","modified_gmt":"2015-10-12T14:54:23","slug":"9115-governance-council-meeting-minutes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/21stcenturypa.com\/wp\/?p=2597","title":{"rendered":"9\/1\/15 Governance Council Meeting Minutes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members Present: Virginia Trujillo, President<\/p>\n<p>Chris Velasquez, Secretary<\/p>\n<p>Lori Hagen, Member<\/p>\n<p>John Everette, Member<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Members Absent: Charles Lakins, Vice President<\/p>\n<p>Maxine Mora, Member<\/p>\n<p>Jim Freese, Member<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Guests: Mary Tarango, Principal<\/p>\n<p>Rita Hirschy, COO<\/p>\n<p>Camille Cordova, Parent<\/p>\n<p>Art Silva, Community member<\/p>\n<p>Kathy Potter, Community member<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Governance Council Called to Order at 5:35 p.m. (Finance mtg at 4:30 p.m. prior to)<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Roll Call<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Quorum met.\u00a0 Sign in sheet attached.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Approval of Previous Governance Council (GC) Meeting Minutes<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>August 19, 2015 meeting minutes reviewed<\/li>\n<li>Correction to Nominating Committee Report to read, \u201cNominating committee requested Al Sanchez be on audit committee\u201d.\n<ul>\n<li>Motion to approve minutes as amended \u2013 Lori Hagen<\/li>\n<li>2<sup>nd<\/sup> \u2013 John Everette<\/li>\n<li>Passed unanimously<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Open Forum<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>John Everette asked the GC if there is an issue with him joining in on a protest of the APS Board.\u00a0 Members agreed it was not an issue, but cautioned not to present himself as a member of the 21<sup>st<\/sup> Century GC, but rather a concerned parent of an APS student. Virginia stated that she wrote a letter on behalf of herself suggesting that they bring Don Moya back.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Election of Members<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Position of President is up for vote.\u00a0 Virginia Trujillo was the only interested member.\u00a0 3 members voted and it was a unanimous decision.\u00a0 She was elected for 2 more years.<\/li>\n<li>Virginia received and accepted resignation letter from Charles Lakins, current Vice President.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Virginia appointed Chris Velasquez as Vice President and John Everette as Secretary.\u00a0 Chris accepted and agreed to stay on as chairman of Finance.\u00a0 John accepted Secretary position, and Lori will continue to serve on Finance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>School Finances<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Finance Committee met prior to this meeting.\u00a0 There are no financial statements to review due to yearly audit currently ongoing and recent transition of Fiscal Years.\u00a0 In addition, last GC meeting was a mere 2 weeks ago.<\/li>\n<li>Cash disbursements for June and July reviewed at August meeting, no August cash disbursements to review due to GC meeting occurred on 1 September and an accurate reporting of August would be difficult.\u00a0 October Meeting will review August disbursements and may include September since meeting will occur on 6 October.<\/li>\n<li>1 BAR submitted for approval\n<ul>\n<li>Transfer BAR #001-027-1516-0006-T submitted to transfer budget from Instructional Funding to Support Services for a Social Worker\/Counselor position. $0 net increase.<\/li>\n<li>Motion to approve BAR \u2013 Chris Velasquez<\/li>\n<li>2<sup>nd<\/sup>. \u2013 Lori Hagen<\/li>\n<li>Passed unanimously<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>No Requests for Reimbursement submitted, no action needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Governance Council Resolution No. 9-1-2015<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This resolution will govern meeting dates, meeting times, where, when, emergency meetings, special meetings, etc. See attached.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Motion to approve \u2013 Lori Hagen<\/li>\n<li>2<sup>nd<\/sup>. \u2013 Chris Velasquez<\/li>\n<li>Passed unanimously<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Principal\u2019s Report<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enrollment for the start of current school year is 254.\u00a0 252 is the projected target for 40 day count.\u00a0 Need to maintain the 252 for current funding.\u00a0 40 day count will determine if school will receive more funding.<\/li>\n<li>The new portables are waiting on electrical and mechanical inspections.\u00a0 They have the fire security approval.\u00a0 Target date for final inspections is 9-8-15.\u00a0 Portables have some furniture to get year started.<\/li>\n<li>Mill Levy Bond &#8211; The principal stated that $38,000 was submitted to APS Capital Outlay for the Preliminary Program of Requirements.\u00a0 Projected money for school is $6,000,000 for building and $2,000,000 for land.<\/li>\n<li>A list of assessments of testing elements was submitted to PED.\n<ul>\n<li>PARCC<\/li>\n<li>SBA \u2013 7<sup>th<\/sup> grade only \u2013 Science<\/li>\n<li>MAPS \u2013 short cycle \u2013 3x a year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Old Business<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No old business<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Next Meeting<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>October 6, 2015 at 5:30 p.m<b>.\u00a0 <\/b>Finance at 4:30 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Motion to adjourn \u2013 <\/b>Chris Velasquez<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2<sup>nd<\/sup>.
