8/15/22 PTA Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Lani McCarson, President, at 3:23 pm on Monday, August 15, 2022.
Attendance: Lani McCarson, Mikel Wagner, Joy Moquino, Jessica Schiffman, Tiffany Johnson, Ken Johnson
New Business
 Mr. Johnson has submitted a request for guitars for the new school year to the school. If the school can
not help pay for the guitars Mr. Johnson is requesting PTA run a fundraiser to help him purchase new
guitars.
President’s Report by Lani McCarson:
 Our Vice-President Rikki Hernandez has resigned from her position on the board.
 Welcome Dragons sign will be up the first day of school. Placement will be close to the gym. We have
parents who have graciously volunteered to put the sign up and take it down.
 Breakfast: We are looking into serving breakfast for the 2022-23 school year, but having problems
finding volunteers and the cost is a problem, as well. Might be a possibility to serve grab and go type
breakfast.
 Balloons Aloft: This is being discussed with the person who brings their balloon to the school. We are
not sure if that will be a possibility this year.
 Fall Festival: October 28 th 5-7pm Were hoping that the event will be held inside. There will be games
and food. We are looking for volunteers for this event.
 We need more people to sign up for memberships for PTA nothing is required except the $8.00 for the
year. This will greatly help us to put on more events for the school.
 How can we get more involvement and volunteers: Some ideas were to hold signs up or hand out flyers
at the pickup or drop off line. Remind texts, or emails.
Motions:
 Mikel Wagner motioned for Tiffany Johnson to be added to the bank account. Lani McCarson second
the motion. All in favor.
 Lani McCarson motioned for Joy Moquino to move into Vice-President Position. Mikel Wagner
seconded the motion. All in favor.
 Lani McCarson motioned to make Jessica Schiffman the Secretary. Lani McCarson seconded the
motion. All in favor.
 Lani McCarson made a motion to create a new line item called PTA Meeting expenses. The motion
included moving $500 from School supply fundraiser to PTA Meeting expenses. Joy Moquino seconded
the motion. All in favor.
 Lani McCason made a motion to create a new line item for Charleston Wrap fundraiser and remove the
line item called school supplies. All in favor.

8/1/22 PTA Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Lani McCarson, President, at 7:00 pm on Monday, August 1, 2022.
The minutes from the June 13, 2022 General PTA Meeting were approved as read.
The minutes from the June 29, 2022 Budget PTA Meeting were approved as read.
Attendance:

Administration’s Report by Angela Lerner:
 Summer Projects – Portables are almost set up and expected to be fully functional the first day of
school.
 All furniture for the school has arrived and been set up.
 Mrs. Tarango has asked for PTA to provide lunch for the school for teacher in service days. PTA has
approved one breakfast August 22 and one lunch August 23.

President’s Report by Lani McCarson:
 Snack bar made less money than expected. With inflation and volunteers low we will only be doing
snack bar Wednesdays and Fridays at this time.
 Our first fundraiser will be with Charleston Wrap on September 6 through September 27th.
 We are looking at running a water bottle drive during the Ice Cream social. Parents can drop off new
and used water bottles to help families in need.

Vice President’s Report by Rikki Hernandez
 Nothing new to report.
Treasurer’s Report by Mikel Wagner:
 The bank balance is $11,039.70 as of today.
 Audit for the last two years has still not been completed.
New Business:
 We will set up a donation drive through Good Will in the Fall.
 Clothing Closet will be open Friday August 5 th and Monday August 8 th from 10 to 12.

6/13/22 PTA Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Janet Giron, President, at 6:59 pm on Monday, June 13, 2022.
The minutes from the May 23, 2022 General PTA Meeting were approved as read.
Attendance:
Janet Giron, Angela Lerner, Mikel Wagner, Lani McCarson, Rikki Hernandez, Joy Moquino
Administration’s Report by Angela Lerner:
 Two portables are being moved onto the dirt lot. We will be getting a playground and
fencing the lot.
 8 th grade clases will be in the new portables except Science, which will still be in the main
building.
 Teachers voted to have the Ice Cream Social on August 25 from 5-7pm
 October 26 is the tentative date for the Fall Festival
 Amost all grade levels are full
President’s Report by Janet Giron:
 Angie, Mikel and Janet are working on the audit and the 22-23 Fiscal Year budget
 We will have a meeting on June 29 to discuss the budget
 The next Governance Council meeting will be on June 16 at 5:30
Vice President’s Report by Lani McCarson:
 We have been contacted by Charlston Wrap about doing a fundraiser with them. We will
contact former PTA members who ran this fundraiser to see if it was successful.

Treasurer’s Report by Angela Lerner/Mikel Wagner:
 The bank balance is $16,201.86 as of today.
New Business:
 There was no new business.

5/23/22 PTA Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Janet Giron, President, at 7:00 pm on Monday, May 23, 2022.
The minutes from the April 18, 2022 General PTA Meeting were approved as read.
Attendance:
Janet Giron, Angela Lerner, Mikel Wagner, Lani McCarson, Rikki Hernandez, Joy Moquino,
Jennifer Elliot
Administration’s Report by Angela Lerner:
 8 th grade graduation will be on May 25 from 6 – 8pm
 Summer Projects – the school will get two portables and a new fence. The portables are a
fix until we can purchase the Income Support building.
 Next year there will be full 1st , 2nd, and 3rd grade classes. There will be either a combo
3rd-4th, or 4th-5th grade class.
President’s Report by Janet Giron:
 Spring Fling was very sucessful. We had good feedback from parents. Next year the school
staff would like it to be during the school day.
 The Ice Cream Social will be on Labor Day. This will be after school starts and many
people will be out of town so we would like to meet with Mrs. Tarango to see if we can
change the date.
 Field Day will be on May 26 at school during school hours.
 Yearbooks can still be ordered. The link is on tha PTA page.
 The Governance Council meeting will be on June 16 at 5:30.
 PTA will be buying signs for graduation for $350. There will be three signs:
Congratulations, Welcome and Dragons. This will come out of the Social budget.

Vice President’s Report by Lani McCarson:
 The PTA will not be selling the supplies bundles next year. We would like teachers to
update their supply lists as there always seem to be items on the lists that the kids don’t use.
 The PTA chest freezer died. Do we need to buy a new one? An upright freezer is $299 and a
chest freezer is $249. We will wait to decide when school starts again.
 We would like to start doing breakfast snacks before school again. We will need to get
administration’s permission.

Treasurer’s Report by Angela Lerner/Mikel Wagner:
 The bank balance is $14,726.48 as of today.
 There is an outstanding reimbursement of $5,28.11 for snack bar.
New Business:
 Lani McCarson moved to remove Janet Giron as a signer on the bank account and add Rikki
Hernandez and Joy Moquino. Mikel Wagner seconded the motion. The motion passed with a
show of hands.
 Janet Giron appointed Joy Moquino PTA Secretary for the 2022-2023 year.

 Sam’s Club Membership: the name on the membership will be changed from Janet Giron to
Lani (Elizabeth) McCarson and Carl Ward-Hersee.
