February Draft Minutes:
Attendees: Victoria Tafoya, Kristin Healy, Alfreda Begaye, Bianca Belmonte-Sapien

Site visit volunteers requested for parent/community interview portions (March 3).
Equity for Internet access discussed, hotspots ordered with distribution soon.
Reentry plan for reopening will post Feb. 12th, hybrid format considerations shared-Zoom feedback/volume if in a room, seating and proximity, assignment considerations for equity (due dates and access to support).
Importance to return to a sense of normal to be in a classroom learning space with peers and a teacher.

Teachable moments with Current Events: Does current teacher team structure exist to read professional article on how to approach social topics with students? How did teachers address the topics from recent events.  Keeping teacher comments/feelings aside.

Survey: how did you address January 6th events at the US Capitol? And, how will you address social current events in the future?

Thank you to Equity Council, used ideas about multicultural resources in CSP Grant request for over $103,000.00.

Black History Month- how are teachers addressing topics- current and historical? World History cultural relevance? Link to current or relevant topics in today’s society linking to race/class/economic status. Time for faculty to learn and grow to teach topics.

Reviewed requested data-04% NA (Navajo, Laguna, Isleta, Zuni, Jicarilla Apache, Mescalero Apache), 47% Economically Disadvantaged (determined through free/reduced lunch qualified).

Possibilities for educating around Dreamers as a status group. UNM Farmworkers acknowledgment celebration.

LGBTQ opportunities for education. Safe Zones at 21st Century Public Academy.

Conversations for context with cultural underpinnings in content readings (Voodoo, Dia De Los Muertos). Follow-up by teachers with dialogue, discussion for impacted groups.
